Antique Campaign Cupboard |
|
On first sight you might question if this mahogany cupboard is a true piece of campaign furniture. It is an unusual size and the overhanging moulded edges could easily be damaged in travel. However, on closer inspection it can be seen that the feet are removable and the side handles are purposely set low to keep the balance upright. Added to this the cupboard has a strong panelled back. There are also tacks and shadow lines to the back indicating that it once had an owner’s label. The feet have hidden castors and the lift up top reveals a baize lined compartment deep enough to take a bottle. The cupboard is fitted with a single fixed shelf. Both top and door have ‘Tittley’s Slide Cat’ locks that are marked Registered 3rd |
