Portable Funnel Goblet |
|
The antique period isThe stem of this silver plated goblet unscrews to invert into the cup for travel. Added to this, the foot of the goblet’s stem unscrews to reveal a corkscrew. The whole is contained in a green bag for travel. The shape of the cup of the goblet is flattened to the sides, which is echoed by the foot. The cup could also be used as a funnel without the stem. Perhaps this indicates its intended use and had a relevance to someone who travelled in the wine or spirits trade. The cup is gilt lined to give a purer taste when drinking. Early 20th Century.
