Antique Water Bottle |
|
This amber brown glass flask has a protective leather hide cover with raised seams. The flask originally looks to have had a fixed strap which has now been cut at both shoulders. The remains of the strap follows the side contours of the bottle and are fitted underneath the cover, at the base, to give extra support. One shoulder of the glass bottle is flat and presumably, if there were no leather cover, an identification mark could be seen in this area. The cork and wax stopper is a later replacement. The antique period is mid to late 19th Century. |
