Antique Ship’s Gimbaled Candlestick |

The gimbaled stem to this candlestick immediately indentifies it as made for use at sea. The flame of the candle will always be adjusted to the vertical position no matter the conditions. The candlestick has a thumb grip for ease of carrying but also has a ring to allow it to be hung. In doing so, the dish of the candlestick is set adjacent to the stem and doubles in use as a reflector. Early 20th Century. We are very happy to email or fax full condition reports upon request. |
