This mahogany campaign chest is a good example of a standard form of campaign chest made and sold by many makers. As you would expect, it splits into two sections and has removable feet. The chest is strengthened with gilt lacquered brass strap work between the drawers and corners to the top, all fitted with steel screws. The drawer formation is also fairly typical with two short drawers over three long drawers. The drawer linings are made of ash. Circa 1870. |
