A brass bound camphor wood Trunk, made in one of the Chinese ports.

This trunk, along with hundreds of others similar, would have been made for sale to Westerners passing through. Their production lasted throughout most of the 19
th century well into the 20th century and they came in a variety of sizes.

The lid is held on three hinges and fixed with two locks, although the keys are now missing. the trunk sits on very low bracket feet. It has iron carrying handles to the sides with their style an indicator of the trunk's later age.

These trunks are always useful as a coffee table with storage or for use at the end of a bed. Early 20
