The chrome metal Rapid Opera & Field Glass was marketed as a 'scientific Optical Novelty' which would appeal to old and young.

It provides several tools in one and packs down to a convenient pocket size. The instruments are a reading glass, microscope, telescope, opera or field glass, a compass and a larynxscope for magnifying reflections.

The four lenses are hinged to fold out from the central, extending barrel which houses the compass to one side and reflector to the other. They will also fold to face each other so that the large lenses can be used as a microscope by increasing their strength. Originally the Glass was sold with an instruction sheet and box but they gave no indication of the maker. The instructions did emphasis the portability of the combined instrument noting that it 'can easily be carried in the waistcoat pocket etc.'. The compass dial notes that it was Made In France although it was produced for export to England. Circa 1930.

Size folded is given.
