This pair of packing case cupboards could be used either in their own right or bolted to each side of the campaign chest they originally protected. They have mahogany panelled doors and iron clad, painted deal to the top and sides. A separate packing board would have been bolted to the doors to shield the show wood during travel. Allen's stencil is to be found to the underside of three of the four linen press slides.

Interestingly, there are also labels to the base of one of the cupboards that show that they were either stored at onetime by The Army & Navy Store or perhaps retailed by them. As separate pieces to a campaign chest, these two cupboards work very well, being of good height with a narrow width. It is known that Allen also made these cupboards in walnut. Late 19th century.
Size of each Cupboard is given.
