Coromandel Decanter Box
83831
A brass edged Coromandel Decanter Box with two bottles.
The box is well made with protective brass edging to the corners and leather padding to the interior to cushion the bottles. The lid interior is lined in velvet, worn over time. The square, glass bottles are canted at the corners and the lips have a serrated edge with a pouring spout. There is a minor chip to one bottle under the serrated edge, shown on the final image.
The lid has stay hinges to stop the top tipping to far when left open. The lock is unmarked and has a replaced escutcheon and key. The inset brass plate to the top in engraved with the name A. J. I. Wright.
This is a good Decanter box that would have been useful for both travel or the home and is still useable today. Mid to late 19th Century.
