Published in the bicentenary year of the Battle of Waterloo, The Baggage Elephant illustrates nearly 20 items either of the Napoleonic period or relating to the battle. As collectors will appreciate, this earlier period of antique campaign furniture is very interesting. It is an age before standardization of design has been achieved and so you are more likely to find 'one off' or unusual pieces of antique travel furniture such as the Georgian Cabin or Map Table.

This catalogue also has over 20 pieces with maker's labels and 6 where the original owners are known. Also worthy of note is the carved Ship's Chair which is one of the best we have seen; there is also an interesting Roorkhee Campaign Chair and the 3 Albums of Camp Sketches give an amusing insight into the annual manoeuvres of a volunteer battalion. As to makers, there is rare Thompson Trunk Bed which is accompanied by an article on the company.
