Pedestal Military Campaign Desk with Skeletal Handles

A mahogany Campaign Pedestal Desk.
Most pedestal desks separate into 3 parts: the top and two pedestals, and some have handles for the ease of moving it around a room. Although this desk comes apart in the same way, it was also clearly made for travel.
The pedestals have no over hanging moulding or decoration and the top has a simple, thumbnail moulding that hardly over hangs the top. The drawers have skeletal campaign handles and round, flat escutcheons. The bun feet are nicely turned but again, are relatively simple and do not stand proud of the pedestals.
The desk has three drawers to the top and two to each pedestal, all with oak linings. The top has its original oil cloth which is surrounded by a mahogany border mitred at the corners. True campaign desks from the early to mid 19th century do not appear on the market often and this is a good example. Early 19th Century.
The kneehole height is 22 1/4 inches (57cm) with a width of 20 inches (51cm).
