A very small Lignum Vitae or iron wood Sailor's Fid.
This fid is notable for its size at only 3 3/4 inches (9.5cm) long. It is bar far the smallest we have ever seen. The lignum used is a good quality piece of wood. The fid looks to have some digits stamped to it which may be 115000 but it is very worn and they may not be numbers at all. Mid to late 19th Century.
