Ancient Lock Box Biscuit Tin

An ornate Ancient Lock Biscuit Tin by Huntley and Palmer.
Ancient Lock is embossed and lithograph printed on the tin to resemble an oak box heavily covered in brass mounts and fittings. The top has ornate leaf fittings to the corners within a decorative edge. To the middle is an equally ornate escutcheon and swing handle. The back and over hanging front and sides are equally decorative with a name plate to one side. The sides of the bottom section of the box, when revealed by opening the lid, are gold in colour.
The base is also gold although naturally there is wear and scratches to the lithography. To the centre of the base is the faded name of Huntley & Palmer, Biscuit Manufacturer, Reading & London.
This design was produced by Huntley and Palmer from 1896 up to the 1920s.
