Cased Set of Diamond Scales

Cased Set of Diamond Scales

Sold

A mahogany cased set of steel Diamond Scales.

The case is carved out of one piece of wood to hold the pans, scales and their pointer divided from each other and so held in place during travel. The set has eight larger weights and 14 smaller weights all contained in a lidded compartment to the box. A pair of brass tweezers fit into the underside of the lid.

It's well made with a brass sprung button lock to the front and the case is tactile. The set is probably European, Dutch or French in origin. Circa 1875.

Case size is given.
