A Securem leather Tent Pole Strap with brass hooks.
The strap has a corrugated rubber liner inside the leather to help grip the tent pole and a steel wedge underneath the extending lantern hook to counter balance the additional weight and so prevent the strap sliding. Although not marked, the Army & Navy CSL advertised these straps in their catalogues marketing it not just to the military but also for bathing and sporting tents.
It would have proved a useful piece of equipment to any traveller, offering a solution to hanging personal belongings in a tent. Circa 1900.
