This bookcase, of typical campaign form, is made of 2 equal parts, joined by a full-length piano hinge, allowing them to fold together like a book.
When folded out the mahogany panelled doors can be opened by key to reveal 3 adjustable pine shelves faced with a mahogany D moulding, to each section. One side also has 2 short drawers with knobs, to its base. The show wood, that is to say the doors and sides are mahogany, whilst the back, top and bottom of the bookcase are in stained pine. Mid 19th century.
