Leather Writing Box
Leather Writing Box
82229
A small black grained leather Writing Box.
This box was never intended to take lots of stationery or provide a writing surface but instead to be a place to hold writing equipment. The lid interior has a leather strap to hold 3 pens or pencils and an inkwell and lidded compartment are set to the right hand side of the box. The main area of the box is plain and extends under the inkwell divisions to the right. This would take some folded paper or further writing and drawing equipment.
The inkwell has a sprung lid released by depressing a button. The polished copper interior is engraved for decoration and the glass inkwell's padded lid is opened by nudging the pen rest. The box is well made, with a fishtail handle to the lid and a Bramah lock. Early 20th Century.
