A leather on chrome metal Travelling Inkwell.

The inkwell is of a standard design with a sprung push button releasing the lid. The inner lid is then opened by pulling back the sprung leaver to the side of the inkwell. The lid has a padded rubber centre to it which acted as a sealed bung to the top of the removable glass well. The bung has deteriorated over time.

The push button is marked with a star over a crescent which presumably is the maker's logo. We have seen this design on other inkwells but do not know the manufacturer. The dark red brown leather has some tooled lines that follow the shape of the case but otherwise this is a very simply, plain inkwell. Probably continental. Early 20th Century.
