A steel and brass Paper Knife in the form of an Officer's Sword with scabbard.

The grip is painted black and the guard has a wire toggle. The Sword's brass hilt is decorated with a crowned eagle holding a sword and sceptre, a Prussian symbol, suggesting it may be German in manufacture.

Such paper knives would appeal to the military gentlemen and would probably have been sold by one of the many smart London shops that sold desk items. It is also still useable today. Circa 1900.
