A pair of olive wood Brighton Buns Travel Candlesticks with Snuffer.

This pair of treen portable candlesticks were probably made in Jerusalem to be sold as a practical souvenir to visitors. The figuring on the timber has a nice grain and they have a good colour.

For travel, the two sconces are unscrewed and they will pack inside the two dishes, with the snuffer, which are then screwed together.

There is a name written on the outside of one of the dishes which looks to be 'M. Grenerso'. Although olive buns often have Jerusalem written on them, it is unusual to have a name. Late 19th Century.
