A brass model of a stone mason's A Frame with Block and Tackle on an oak triangular base.

The model has a working winch to raise the block and tackle with a safety catch to hold its position. When it's catch is released, the block can be lowered. The A frame is made of three brass poles terminating in a finial and are made to dismantle to reduce their length by half. They sit on brass cups to each corner of the triangular base, with one cup and one finial replaced.

Originally the model probably had a block of stone to lift but this has been replaced by a round wooden weight with ring. This is an interesting working model and may have been produced for a Masonic Lodge. A similar example by a company called Pobjoy Ltd, Masonic Outfitters of 5 Gt. Queen St. London is known. Circa 1900.
