As the 4 hexagonal sections of this nickel plated on brass telescopic boat hook are drawn out, they are locked in place by a mechanism of sprung balls slotting into holes. To reduce the length of the hook the balls are pushed in to release the section. It will then become a practical size for stowing away. Circa 1930.
