An upholstered, walnut Folding Chair made to be recline to seven different positions.
The back of the chair is shaped to cushion the small of the back although a version of this chair was also made with a straight back. The two back uprights have seven metals lugs to fix the position of the chair, holding the gilt brass fittings to the uprights that link the legs with the back. As the height of the back is reduced so the depth of the chair is increased. The chair was not made to fold completely flat but it does make storage much easier.
The upholstery and fringe look to be original. A very comfortable armchair. Circa 1900.
