Large Binocular Case Double Inkwell

Large Binocular Case Double Inkwell

Sold

A large, leather on brass Binocular Case Double Inkwell.

This novelty inkwell works to the same method as most others in that it has a push button to the front to release the lid. The interior has two inkwells with a pen wipe brush to the middle. The sprung inkwell lids are opened by moving a swing arm. The interior of the lids have a sprung pad to form a tight seal to the neck of the glass bottle. These two swing arms are stamped with a maker's logo and initials which looks to be KPRN. The interior of the inkwell is gilt brass and decorated with an engraved pattern.

This inkwell is much larger than most novelty inks and the base, under a thin leather is lead to give stability. There is a dent to one side of the lead and the handle to the top has been replaced but other wise the condition is good. It is probably German or French in manufacture. Circa 1900.
