A brass, cased Monocular by a unknown maker.

The brass has been blacked to this monocular and it has a black leather grip and leather to the shade ring that pulls out over the lens. To the top of the grip, at its narrowest point, there is a ring to take a neck strap.

The leather case has a soft body with a rigid lid and base. The lid opens on a simple sprung push button. The interior of the case is lined in purple silk with a purple velvet collar to cushion the monocular and velvet to the lid interior. The interior edges of the lid and main case have a decorative gilt tooled line which suggests the Monocular might be French.

The monocular extends by nearly an inch and is focused by the length of the draw. It works very well. Circa 1900.

Case size is given.
