Cased Spirit Heater With Pan

Cased Spirit Heater With Pan

Sold

A French portable leather cased Travelling Spirit Stove with Pan.

The pan is a good size and larger than most. The handles are made to fold against the body of the pan and the lid also has a folding, ring handle. The pan sits on a stand with 3 shaped pillars, which in turn sits on the heater. The heater has a screw on cap to both extinguish the flame and protect the solid, removable wick when not in use. To pack, the heater and stand fit inside the pan, which in turn packs into the leather case. The case has a buckled strap and a fishtail handle to the top.

The underside of the pan is marked with the maker's details of a cabled anchor with wings to the top and the initials L C. Above the logo is a Depose stamp in an oval and below it is the number 2.

The Army & Navy CSL sold a very similar stove in their 1907 catalogue and it was available in 2 sizes with the option of buying a leather case to pack it into. Early 20th Century.
