A large pair of cast brass Brighton Bun Travel Candlesticks.
The Brighton Bun or Military Candlestick, as the Army & Navy CSL described their later versions, is a classic piece of space saving design for travel. The two scones unscrew from the dishes; one sconce has a thread and the other receives a thread. Likewise with the two dishes allowing them to be screwed together to form a case to hold the sconces during travel.
This pair have a moulded edge to the dish. They are larger than most but the diameter is not the largest we have had. Early to mid C19th.
