A well-made, brass Kit Bag Lock with a D shaped carrying handle.
The locking bar is fixed with an associated padlock and drops down from the handle to open. The padlock is made of brass & steel and stamped 'Hand Made' and 'Secure'. The padlock's escutcheon has a swing cover and the original key is ornate. 2nd Half 19th Century.
