A novelty Globe Inkwell with 11 lithographed gores fixed onto the brass case.

These inkwells were made in at least 3 sizes, with this the smallest we have seen. The inkwell opens by pressing a sprung button to the middle of the front. Inside the inkwell is a second lid with a sprung pad to its interior to form a tight seal to the glass bottle.

Of the many different forms of novelty inkwells made either side of 1900, the Globe is the most popular and probably made in Germany or Austria. Circa 1900.
